I think your second point is the key to a successful IVA Melanie. I've posted on here about the service I received from one of the IVA factorys - I wish I'd known of you before I started my IVA!

Nothing was explained to me (I didn't know what a DMP was until I found the forum!), I was told I didn't want to go BR, I wasn't offered a face to face meeting, I didn't know that I was allowed to speak to my IP and when I pointed out errors in the proposal to the admin staff I was told not to worry! As you say, I was just a number to them.

Even though things went pear shaped, I wouldn't have been tempted to part with any money to a BR assistance service.

Yes Skippy you make a good point there about having ALL the debt solution options explained to you. IPs now have to demonstrate that they have done this, and most of us have been doing it without being told to throughout our careers.

I was sent a booklet to read through, but after being told that I didn't want to go BR I thought that an IVA was the only thing I could do.

Looking back I'm embarrassed that I didn't do more research, but I was desperate at the time and very ashamed of the debt I was in. I don't think I'm usually stupid, but I was about this.

In any profession there are professionals and those who are not quite as good.

If you take Melanie for example there is clearly no comparrison between the level of service and respect she and her team show clients and thate service offered by some other companies.

lets face it if everyone in the IVA industry was as good as Melanie there would probably be no need for the forum.

In a similar manner I won't compare our level of service to Melanies but it is often quite difficult to understand what we do compared to other companies who charge outrageous fees for filling in forms.

In reallity the forms section is probably the least complicated bit of Br.

Hopefully in time we can build a solid reputation here on the forum and be viewed differently to other companies that are simply jumping on a short term opportunity.

I hope you do Paul, as you are in the unfortunate position that I am of being tarred with the same brush - and sometimes this becomes very tedious.

no not at all

unfortunately I have learned to have a thick skin anyway.

Different people need different levels of support and that is what is great about the forum and the Br sister site.

some people want to have a go themselves and that is great while other people would like some help but impartial handholding throughout the process and beyond.

Much to my wife's surprise I often meet clients at my house before going to court in Taunton. This usually puts people mre at ease, provides free parking and allows a pleasant walk to the court through the park.

It is just plain satisfying helping someone sort out the problem wether they are a client or a member of the forum.

I know I wouldn't be doing as good as I am without Pauls help. I really needed guiding through the whole process and it was the best money I've ever spent, well apart from my Buffy dvd's and nothing compares to them. Sorry Paul (hee hee)

Firefly is brilliant. It has everything that the other series have, apart from Vampires of course. It has the humour, the angst and brilliant characters. I would recommend Firefly the series then Serenity the film.

We own Serenity but haven't watched it yet. I will defo watch it, they share a lot of the cast don't they. And he's in desperate housewives now. I love digging out buffy or angel and watching episode after episode with lots of chocolate....makes me happy. I really think I could BE a vampire slayer. I can only dream![:)] X

I could be a slayer as well if wasn't for the lack of co-ordination and the fact that I'm more like Xander. I laugh in the face of evil then run away and hide.
