I can help answer that one Stephen, we were one of the lucky few that meant PPI was not captured as an asset or windfall so we could keep everything that was not offset, our IP encouraged us to claim ourselves as using a claims management company would charge fees, knowing there was a linked management company they used they still encouraged us to do it ourselves, We managed to reduce our claims in the IVA by a Huge amount due to offset and felt all the better for it.
Took The plunge and made the call, changed our family life and we have never been happier. Debt free and wont go back..... IVA was by far the best thing we ever did to teach us the real value of Family and money
I went into an IVA to get out of the IVA - not sure that some people actually want that.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.
I'm with Stephen and In a mess- surely if this money is a windfall it should ALL go to the creditors and NONE to the claims management company - that seems to be a clear cut case of profiteering - if Stephen had been given the choice of claiming his own PPI's ( assuming they were mis-sold) then his debt would have been reduced by more than it currently has - so in my (layman)opinion they CMC have NOT acted in the best interest of the creditors OR the person with the IVA but it seems to me, they ahve acted in their OWN interests
Bottom line, whether we like it or not --- all of the fees and deductions have been agreed and authorised by the creditors ( in many cases actually set by them). If they chose to throw money down the pan that is their decision.

I hope so to - all he said was the absolute truth whether we like it or not.
I did like your idea of setting up our agency - we could all probably do a really good job and meet the needs of all involved.

Of course i was
Just out of curiosity though froggy, i notice that after every comment you make, that you have an automatically generated disclaimer/funding position/blogsite advert.
I also notice that the IVA experts have a similar advert for their services.
Are we to read anything into this or is it just a coincidence
Anyone can put them in, you will notice some have countdown banners too, others witty quotes.
Most of us with blogs put a link to them there as well -- and, yes, there is an incentive, as there is a regular blog winners prize.
What you CAN read into my signature is that I am not trained and am just a guy off the street who has also done his time ... what it says really.

Read what you like into it and no doubt you will. My opinion to you is clearly worthless but for the benefit of others I will state that Foggy is totally independent and has been through an IVA himself. He offers his experience to help others and his disclaimer is tongue in cheek.
Oh, Stephen, the reason for the disclaimer is that I call it as I see it and will criticise where I wish -- so purely want to make it clear that the thoughts are mine and in no way those of the forum administrators, as they can be open to legal action for defamatory posts. It also reflects my questionable sense of humour !
