If I had an outstanding debt with a creditor (Bank) in the past, that was sold on to a debt recovery centre, have I unkowingly agreed to an IVA? or is this a seperate type of agreement?

It's impossible to unkowingly agree to an IVA. You're pretty safe there [:)]

What has probably happened is that your bank considers your debt with them has gone bad and so sold it on at a knockdown price. The bank gets something out of it and whoever has been assigned the debt is standing in their place. They are free to do whatever they want to recover what is now their debt

Tell it like it is.
