]1st DIRECT (caution)I was with 1st direct bank before I had my IVA it and its mother company HSBC were not a creditor for the IVA I've been in the IVA for 18 months paying by direct debit to DFD and today out of the blue I get a letter from1st direct saying they have received notification of my IVA and in accordance with their normal procedures they can no longer offer me banking facilities,a) I presume they can do this and b) do you have a list of banks/building societies I can use as I get my pensions paid by d/d

Hi Peter and welcome to the forum
First direct are known for closing the accounts of those in an iva.

There are quite a few accounts. Coop cashminder is very popular and comes with visa electron, natwest step account has a solo card I think to name a couple.

Hope you get sorted soon.

Ang

Hi
Anyone contemplating an IVA should keep clear of HSBC or First direct when looking for new accounts

[Thank you all for the replies I've been accepted by the co-op for their basic package which other than not having the use of a cheque book will do me fine, I spoke to 1st direct and told them of my annoyance and how stupid they looked as they have bee paying the d/d for the last 18 months

It's strange that your IP didn't advise you of how 1st Direct operate, glad you got it sorted though. X
