Hello,

I'm not too sure how much I owe and who I owe money to. I went to get a credit report as I got rejected by hsbc for a debit card but they need card details which I don't have. I got rid of all cards 3/4 years ago but still getting no joy. I would like to clear my debts and get my credit rating up asap and would like to know how I can do this?

Hi,

I would advise getting a family member to write a cheque for you or pay on there card on the website so that you can get your credit report.

I presume with your cards you made no payments at all and defaulted on all of them?? Do none of them still write to you chasing payment.

Your credit rating is impaired 6 years from the date of default

I think that you can order your credit record by post and pay by cheque. You need to do this so that you can sort out who you owe what to.

You will need to speak to an Insolvency Practitioner who will explain all options open to you as regards repaying some of your debt. Visit www.iva.com for a list of reputable companies who can help you.

If you go for an IVA or Bankruptcy, your credit rating will be shot for 6 years from the date they are both approved. You can then build up your credit rating again.

If you go for debt management, that is likely to take a lot longer.

Speak to a professional for good advice.

I don't think you can use someone else's card to order your credit report, but as Ray says you can get them to write a cheque for you.
