A very difficult time for you and your family. I really hope Laura can wirk with others to put an end your IVA so you can move forwards. Best wishes x

Thank you for your messages.
I have spoken to a lovely lady on the phone this evening and she has reassured me my account is under review.

Fingers crossed x

Morning everyone [:)]

Just an update really but also asking advice too.

I've received a letter from DFD confirming my case is under review etc.
They are also asking for an income and expenditure form to be completed and bank statements and any benefits received. Which worries me a little because theres no way i can pay the amount that me and my husband were paying.

I've worked out what we would have paid back over this next 12 months. Would it be a good idea if i can get my hands on some money (a friend has offered to lend me some) to offer DFD half of this amount? Just so i can put closure to my account to allow me to move on with the death of my husband, with the closure of this IVA?

It's doing my head in and to be honest i don't really need the extra pressure and worry.

Any advice would be gratefully received here.

Push it back at them stating that your husband has died and that you expect them to deal with everything on that basis given that you are also the executor (which I assume you are).

You don't need the hassle or anyone being a jobsworth.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

I agree put the ball back in their court, did they not take out insurance for you to cover the IVA in event of this I know Freeman Jones did for us. Have a look through your original paperwork, they need to be understanding and helpful not putting more stress on you. Good luck, keep us posted

I agree that you should press them - there is no reason why they cannot close down the IVA so that you can get on with rebuilding your life.

What do you actually mean when you say put the ball back in their court or press them?

Apologies for being confused, I'm struggling a bit because I don't have hubby to talk to about my now current situation. And I've managed to keep it quiet from my family and friends so far.

Send everything back stating that you are not being non cooperative but that you expect everything being managed by a named individual who knows that 1) your husband has died 2) you are the executor of the estate and 3) that they undertake all activities within that context.

You need to keep pressuring them about your husbands death and ask them to sort things out asap.

Hi - Just to clarify were you both in an IVA or just you?

You could ask Laura to clarify why they have asked for this information.

I wonder if they may need to simply confirm that you are not able to maintain any further coontributions whatsoever given the awful change in your circumstances.

I would like to think that if you can prove that to them you can then ask them to put forward a variation to accept payments to date in F&F settlement and close the IVA.

Lisa - they were both in the final 12 months due to equity release.
