We were paying £1100 a month and we dropped that to £325 a month by entering the IVA. Well as you can imagine we were over the moon but i just couldnt help thinking 'whats the catch?' it cant be that easy. Well the catch is that we were used to having the credit cards to fall back on and with the IVA there is nothing to fall back on so although your payments are less each month once you get into it you dont feel better off, you have to be much more strict with your spending e.t.c and learn how to live with what you have every month. We have nine months left and we have been skint but we have been happy. I feel like we are paying back what we owe which makes me feel good, i also feel that by being skint im getting what i deserve for being so silly and im not getting off with it lightly and i also feel like i am learning an awful lot about spending and the value of money which before the IVA i didnt know anything about!!!! I think if someone had come along five years ago and paid my debts off for me i would be in debt again by now cos i would have learnt nothing!!!
