Just a quick message to say hi and let you all know about my situation! I am a police officer and have been in a DMP for the past 6 months. I have a total debt of over 50k split mainly between NR,barclaycard card and Alliance and Leicester. I have decided to take the bull by the horns this year and have just instructed Melanie and her team having made my last payment Into my DMP. I am waiting on a few of the documents required by melanies team before my proposal can be drafted.
I aim to post on here as and when I can to let you know how things are going. My role has made it very difficult to confide in anyone regarding my circunstances except for my partner as debt problems are still seen by some forces (in particular mine) as a disciplinary issue. I did pluck the courage to explain to my employers about my DMP proposal and although they were supportive in pointing me in the direction of a soluction provider they chief inspector of the proffesional standards team did sign the email off by saying 'please keep my updated of your situation as any adverse changes, inparticular those involved in legal action will lead to a disciplinary hearing and possible termination of employment'. Not too much pressure then!!
Right going for now as start my shift soon. Good luck everyone.

I think it is great that your boss is so supportive to you at this difficult time. The Police Force are actually becoming more sympathetic towards officers with debt problems, as this sort of thing gets more and more common.
Yes PAYPLAN were recommended to me and I used them for my DMP- unfortunately they wouldnt propose my IVA as they said they wouldnt be able to negotiate my NR element - suprising though that when I told them Melanie would take my case on they were had a 'sudden change of mind'!?

I don't think this was the reason Payplan was set up, although they do have a lot of "blue-light" clients, and have definately used that in their marketing. My spies tell me that there are now a number of firms specialising in this area.
