Hi All,

I hardly ever come on here but just wanted to touch base and give some support, words of encouragement etc. to those just starting their IVA journey or trying to make their way through it. We entered into an IVA in July 2010 so I am glad to say we are nearly 3 years in which I can't believe! It's had it's ups and downs but as we approach the 3 year mark I can genuinely say that I feel like we are going over the peak of a mountain. Being in an IVA is tough, we have told no-one and have occasionally found ourselves in some awkward situations. BUT we have learned so many things about managing our money, working with what we have, supporting in each other when it gets tough and have even made plans for the future. At the start I was pretty ashamed of being in an IVA but I have come to view it as a positive thing which will ultimately lead to a much better life for us and our children.

Keep the faith whatever stage you're at and most definitely always seek the support of your IP if you are unsure. We are with McCambridge Duffy and I can't fault them so far. I know we have a way to go but so far we are winning (I think!).

What a lovely positive post bigtrouble, glad things are going well for you and I totally agree with your post entirely.

I hope the remainder of your IVA runs smoothly for you.

Thanks Lesley, me too. I remember starting my IVA and you being a big presence on here even then. You must have been around the same stage we are at now!

My IVA finished in January 2013 last payment made of 60. My completion certificate was received on April 9th. I am grateful for the second chance the IVA has given me and it has taught me a very valuable lesson in respect of money. x
