hi to everyone , i have been reading the forum for a week or 2 now and i must say what a big help you all are to me .
i am a self employed courier married with 2 children and a debt of 33000k with 9 creditors, i have been paying of the debt but have now got to the point of peter and paul, with everything we need just going up and up and up i just cant manage it anymore so i have applied for a IVA (KINGSGATE ROBERT THIRSK),
what should i expect, i never missed a payment until advised to stop paying if i dont get a IVA will i get a DMP or will they send the bayliffs in.

all the best MARK B take care

Hi Mark and welcome to the Forum.

How far down the IVA route are you?

I don't think you need to worry about bailiffs just yet!

They should discuss with you all your options. Make sure they explain everything clearly so you know what's what.

With the company we are with, we were told that if we were rejected for IVA they would have put us straight in for DMP. I suppose it all depends on your circumstances.

If you start getting calls from your creditors (which you will), either tell them you are going for an IVA and put the phone down, or just ignore the calls. Don't be bullied into making payments you can't afford.

yes i wouldnt worry to much about bayliffs your ip will put a good proposal together for you, the waiting is a stressfull time but your on the right road as jan has said you will get phone calls just reply that your in the process of an iva and give your firms phone number out of interest you said 9 creditors which is a bonus for iva`s are the sums owing to each even?

We all feel the same Mark, we wish we could just pay off our debts in full, but because we have borrowed, and the banks were willing to throw money at us everytime we asked, we are now in this position.

We are all doing our best to pay off as much as we can. You can be proud that you are taking steps in the right direction now.

experts will give better advice on figures but i remember reading these are all pro iva`s and with not owing one a much greater percentage than the others for the final say i would think you will be fine

Hi Mark
I am with Kingsgate and i must admit they have been fantastic with me for the 4 months i have been with them, they answer all your questions when you call and make you feel at ease, i paid a fee when i joined them, but they said this will go to bankruptcy costs if the IVA was declined. But there proposal was fantastic and they always keep me up to date with whats happening [:)]
