Gareth is one of the best insolvency practitioners in the business, but may not be aware of your current difficulties. An e-mail to him ought to do the trick, and whilst it may not be Gareth personally who deals with the matter, he is sure to direct it to the most appropriate person.

Thanks Melanie...that is exactely what I will do if I get a 'no' from my Case Administrator on Leasing. If I get a yes, hopefully they will let me redo my I&E and include it ....based on a lease of say £200 a month they will still get £200+ more a month than my payments pre Apr before I changed job.

Can GT make the decision themselves to allow this to happen (ie lower my payments but the payments still remain alot more than what was previously agreed by my creditors?). Do IPs have the power and flexibility to make those judgements if it doesn't affect the inital agreed dividend? I know from reading previous posts that obvisouly if you wanted to reduce payments below what was a agreed then they would need to get creditors permission......but in my case the addition funding would come out of the extra disposable income from April (10% to me then 50/50 with GT).

I did ask this question to GT but the answer didn't go past...'No you can't get car finance' but you can have 3 missed payments instead.

Busybee - I hope your IP see sense and allows you to lease a car. We have a car via Duncton and have found their service great so far.

Life is stressful enough without worrying if you're going to break down every journey.

Please keep us updated.

Hi Julie,

I know...tell me about it....to make matters worse no one knows about my IVA..nearly 3 years in and no one....so when things go a bit TU there is only me to deal with it.

I was coming back from a 64 mile work journey on Thursday and 5 miles from my home my car suddenly started playing up...kept losing power then getting it back again. Drove it around a little bit yesterday and it was fine...might be a bit of dirt in the petrol...might not...but I have to get in it on Monday and drive 64 miles again...crapping myself in case I break down...I am in a break down service but it is all the hassle that goes with it....I have a T reg Pegueot 206 with 147K miles on the clock and several things wrong with it...cost me over £1000 last year to maintain...this year alone over £400 (not including service and wear and tear)....it really is not worth throwing more at it especailly when a mechanic said there is oil in my coolant which is usually a sign of the head gasket going.

Duncton deliver to your door for a fee as well which is great...How quickly from making the initial phone call to them did you get the car?

Yes I will let you all know what GT say on Monday...that's if I manage to get home lol!

you don't need to tell me about car probs [}:)]...last year we had the most horrendous probs with hubbys car..like you we have breakdown but not much fun sitting on the side of a motorway ( on more than one occassion). In the end we had to get a new car as we were spending more on repairs than the car was worth.

Unfortunately for us our crediotrs wouldn't reduce our IVA payments so hubby had to go BR....but if you can maintain your IVA I can't see what the problem is.

We paid for delivery from Duncton and the process took a couple of weeks. We emailed over all the documents to speed things up. We're in a 4 year lease but will change the car after 2yrs ( almost 1 yr gone already).

We actually used a broker to find us the best deal for us and then dealt with Duncton direct. As I said, the service has been great....

Hi
GT can authorise you car lease without contacting your creditors as it is not affecting your initially agreed dividend

busybee hello i just want to remind you to tell your ip that if you need a car for work then saftey comes first ,please dont take risks driving a banger on the road it is not just your life at stake.a iva comes a country mile second to peoples health.if you have a accident the law will take a dim view off your debt problems being a excuse,if your car is found to be not roadworthy, please explain this to your ip.

Thanks ronald...You are right..it is bad for my health and welfare now...thinking of getting in it to go to work on Monday knowing there is a chance of it breaking down is making me anxious now....even after 2 wines!!!!

The mechanic said that my gaiters were hanging and that he had managed to tied them back for now (this was early Jul) but he didn't know how long this would last...he said that my alternator belt was not right...but unless he did a proper examination he can't say whether i needed at new assembly or whatever..sorry typical female...know diddly swat about cars except where to put the petrol in! he said my back box exhaust was cracked and that would be on it's way out there was oil in the coolant which is not a good sign and a few other things...last service was a year ago!..this was all additional comments after forking out over £400 to get it through the MoT

Everytime I drive it I feel like i am driving it on borrowed time. I broke down in it last year....I find it really traumatic...being on the side of a road waiting for a recovery vehicle....feel sick thinking about it.

Hi Jan,

Already been on the Duncton site and spied a nice little corsa, 2008 plate that would suit me just fine...it is their cheapest car...but I would be over the moon with it.

sounds like a crusher job for me.talking to your ip about this seems to be paramount,no car no iva, simple as that, your ip,s choice.i would strongly recommend you dont drive your car if you dont think it is roadworthy.but dont worry i am sure your ip will sort this problem out when you contact him/her monday.

Speak to your IP - I am sure there will be no problem. Duncton have an excellent reputation with posters on here.

I'm sure your IP will understand when you explain all the problems with the car..and you're not defaulting on your IVA so I really can't see it being a problem. Emphasise to him that you are almost 3 years in and you want the IVA to be successful...for that to happen you need to be able to work....for that to happen you need a car.....sounding a bit like "there's a hole in my bucket"[:)]

.try not worry about it over the weekend..have another glass of wine [:D]
