help house valuation! I have just phoned to get a house valuation from an estate agent and was inundated with facts! just said that i was thinking of selling but they said they can give me a valuation over the phone. i feel so fed up and hate lying to people. surely there is an easier way? current prices for area etc.... any ideas?
which will both show you what properties have sold for in your area.
If it is your valuation for remortgage, speak to your IP to see what sort of valuation they want.

As long as you get a valuation in writing from a reputable agent this will be fine. Internet based valuations can actually be quite unreliable, and should really be backed up by the opinion of someone who knows the local market well.
You can also find out current sales prices of houses in your area by looking up on the web - cannot rember which site does this but "GOOGLING" should help you.

Thanks for all of your feedback. need a written valuation and no local eatate agents give you one unless i register to sell the house. looks like i will have to pay!
A drive by valuation should not cost much or tell them that you might consider selling and place it with them at any appropriate time.

I hate lying and sure they know when I phone that i don't intend to sell! will phone around again on my day off.

We "lied" to get valuations, as much as it went against the grain. We had to pretend we were selling and got estate agents to give valuations in writing, albeit on a back of a business card at times.
Experts -now IVA's are so recognisable maybe estae agents are in the whole agianst giving free valuations, as they realise its for information purposes only. How will IP's get around this, without expense to the client?
We accept a verbal valuation and mention that in the proposal and if necessary confirming from whom this was obtained. I agree when clients are in financial difficulties the last they need to do is cough up a valuation fee.

I know people have lied to get valuations but am very low and stressed as you all understand having been there yourself and just cannot cope with it all at the moment.don't want any more phone calls than necessary and am hanging on by a thread! wish i could wish the next few weeks to disappear until the IVA if accepted gets underway.
