Help, how do you all cope with the never ending calls from the creditors ? I am trying very hard to ignore them, but from 1st they will increase I am sure, and the 15th is so far away. I am not sure how to cope when they call work ? Any ideas anyone. You can only cover your tracks for so long at work, people are clever they guess whats happening,I feel even more trapped now than when i was struggling and hiding from the probem, really wish I could see a light at the end of the tunnel, but I can't.

Hi
Is your creditors meeting on the 15th April ?
There is no easy way to deal with the non stop calls I'm afraid, just inform them what is happening and give them your IVA company details. You should call each creditor and ask them to take your works number off their database, as long as they can contact you on your mobile or home number there is no reason for them contacting your work
Once your IVA is accepted the calls will stop.

Hi indebtscared
Sadly the phonecalls and letters are part of the chasing strategy employed by all creditors. Are you in an IVA right now? If so, this will stop soon as creditors are not allowed to ocntinue to chase you.

Thanks

i've added 'choose to refuse' to my telephone line temporarily to reduce the amount of 'nuisance' calls. Some still get through but you can get caller display setup free with BT aswell so you can see who's calling.
worth a think about if the calls are getting to you as they will carry on for a while after your iva is approved aswell.

you could always tell people at work that they are constantly asking you to take out the latest credit card or loan or insurance or something?? We were very lucky that they never had work contact details and we often unplugged the phone for some peace! They only ever called for hubby and I did often tell them that he was workin until 9.30pm knowing full well they stopped calling at 9!!

Hi we are having our creditors meetings tomorrow and it's taken quite a while to get to this stage. We did "choose to refuse" through BT and it works well, but creditors then get wise and start to call from different numbers so you have to keep "on the ball" and keep changing the "choose to refuse" numbers as you can only do 10 at a time. Well worth it though.

We have choose to refuse and anonymous call barring, which both work well. I also changed our contact numbers on our online accounts before creditors became wise - you are obviously beyond this point now.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone, only two days left this week at work, then four days after Easter, luckily I am on annual leave the week of our decision,so will avoid that week at work. Our IVA people are saying the same, and encouraging us to advise the callers to contact them instead, they are very supportive and helpful.Note to self, say strong, and remember that I am actively doing something about our debt, not hiding my head in the sand.

Excellent note to self; you are doing your best, the calls are hard and luckily none of my creditors had my works number so I never received calls there. It won't be long x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Get in there, dealt with Tesco & Capital One too, but sure I will get further calls, but for today tick in the boxs, polite but firm with them, got the " make payment now " speech. Feeling slightly more positive I can deal with this and get through it, they are only people doing a job too.

Even though I never provided my work number as a contact number, a couple of my creditors managed to get hold of me at work. They must have searched hard through my account details to find my employer. Anyway, I just told them that I could not take personal calls at work and to call me at home. When they did I asked them to remove my work number from their systems otherwise I would get fired. Like you I was getting a lot of calls at home from my creditors and I just told them I was applying for an IVA, most then agreed to put my account on hold for a few weeks and to be fair to them my phone has stayed fairly quiet. I have been getting a lot of letters though.
