Hi Peeps and Peepettes
In seven weeks time its our 40th Wedding Anniversary. When I was working and not in an IVA I had it all planned out what I was going to surprise Mrs Wizz with. That's all gone by the board now as funds are not exactly needing Securicor to guard them. Sooooo ... all you lovely women out there .... what can I get for Mrs Wizz?? I have arranged (and paid for 4 years ago) a renewal of vows, but my daughter can't make it as she will be in Iraq. I would like to do summat special but there isn't sufficient money. All advice and ideas from you lovely (creep creep) ladies would be most appreciated.
Thank you.

PS to give you some idea how difficult this is going to be for you all, I'm about as romantic as a comatose Victor Meldrew.

It might not be the sort of thing you are looking for but every now and again my OH sends me a card in which he has genuinely written how he feels about me - the nice stuff at least! [:0]

Perhaps you could invest a small amount on some special ornate paper and write your lovely wife a keepsake letter telling her how you feel on this special occasion.

Or if you feel appropriate you could even write poetry or frame it? Or even buy a very small photo album and add in a few favourite photos from over the 40 years along with notes about why you love them and her?

The cards my OH wrote mean more to me than any gift and they cost barely anything [:I]

Thanks Til
Everything but the piccies is a good idea ... believe it or not the Wizzard has managed to stay un photod since he was a babe in arms, there isn't even any wedding photos cos the photographer was taken ill and didn't bother to tell us. The only pic of me is from my last day at work sat at a computer. The team thought I needed a momento.

Ray, your jokes are great, are you musical? You could maybe write her a song. [?]

Ray, what about a trip to the flicks to watch something she really likes then perhaps cook her a nice meal and you could treat her to some nice costume jewellery and give it to her during dinner. George at Asda do some lovely bits at a fraction of the cost of bigger high street stores.

Love brought you together
As husband and wife
And gave each of you
A best friend for life

Whatever you decide to do, Mrs Wizz will love you and that doesn't cost a penny.

Good luck darlings.

Thanks peeps ... lots of great ideas there ... especially the cinema one as when we first got married we couldn't afford a honeymoon so we went to see Barbarella [:D], followed by a Chinese meal (Chinese was posh in those days) ... so mebbe a re run of that, only this time I'll dig me Wok out.

Wizz, that will be lovely, Mrs Wizz will love that, I'm sure. Its just lovely to mark the occasion with something nice and out of the ordinary, and trust me, it will earn you brownie points as well (anything for an easy life) [:D][:D]. It's funny you should say that about a re-run of the day, as I was going to suggest for you to think about something special you did way back then and do it again for old time sake. It will bring back lovely memories of your first years together.

By the way, 40 years is some milestone, and I congratulate you both (albeit a little early). It takes real determination to stick a marriage out for that long. I am sure you have lots of special memories to draw on.

Best Wishes to you both.

Money has been tight for us for a while with the 'baby rainbows'..so we write each other 'cheques' We do them on the computer and make the look really nice...For example..

I will prepare and serve breakfast in bed for you on Sunday
I promise to do all the washing up, drying and putting away for a week
I will run you a candlelit bath with your favourite book and choccies there for you.
I will valet the car for you.
I promise to give you a back massage.
You get the idea..most of ours fit in around giving each other time and space from the little ones, but whatever is appropriate for you, you could do.

Anything heartfelt would melt me..a poem, card, picture of MR Rainbow with the baby Rainbows..

If you were near me I would treat her to do an hours relaxation and reiki therapy..on the house!
Completion Certificate received September 2012.
