Hi - yippee I can now sell on ebay!

I emailed them and fair play I got a prompt response. The problem was even though I was a registered user, I hadn't linked my bank account / debit card to my paypal account. DOH [:I] Thanks to everyone for your help.

So now its all systems go - although I think I'll wait until I'm back from holidays before selling.

I wonder if there's a code we could use all use when buying on ebay...if on the chance one of my frugal friends wanted to buy any of my items I would be prepared to offer a discount of sorts.

Any thoughts on this?

Julie, I used to offer discounts when I was a power seller...I just asked people to email me if there was something I wnated and then I would send them a revised invoice.

Sorry to be such an ignoramous, but how do you BUY on e-bay when you don't have either a credit card or debit card?

Hi you can link your bank account to it to do instant transfer - or choose sellers who accept cheques or postal orders [:)]

Thanks for that, Til. If you are linking your bank directly does this mean you have to have internet banking facilities? (I bet you are all thinking "who is this silly old git of an IT novice")

Aw bless john not at all - just helped my cousin with this very subject! [:)]

No you don't need internet banking although it will be much slower without it. You basically need to set up a 'paypal' account and then 'verify' your bank with paypal (all very secure and above board). Paypal will then place 2 very small (pennies) deposits in your account (hence why internet banking allows you to see them quicker) then when these amounts appear you enter the amounts onto paypal so they know they have the right bank account and holder and then away you go!

Now I have never done this without debit card but to be honest feel sure you will be able to do it without as registering a debit card on paypal and veryfying a bank account are different things.

Hope this helps [:D]

Thanks, Til - very eloquently put - even I understand it! That's very helpful as I would like to trade (in the non-professional manner, of course) on e-bay like the rest of the world but assumed that, once in an IVA (not there yet) buying would be ruled out. What a mine of useful information this forum is!!

Good luck John - I've managed to put an item up for sale...only thing is I can't find it on ebay!

I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon.

Julie, I listed something once and it took six hours to come up in the search! Don't worry, it'll be there. Good luck, have fun and hope you make some pennies.[;)] X

It can take a while, 24 hours if you use shop inventory format or are selling designer items etc.
Of course the new eBay search doesn't help matters. Bloomin eBay!

Thanks ladies - I can now see my item. Guess I was being impatient as per usual.

Hope I make some pennies 'cos I've seen loads I want to buy, but that wasn't the plan [:D]
