Hi Andrea
Your overtime clause is as you explained it and you are one of the lucky ones in having a £50 buffer before having to pay 50%to your IP.
Some advice from someone in an IVA.
Be proud of yourself for dealing with your debt problem,do not feel ashamed or guilty,I have debts of over 60k.You have done what many people in the same situation do not do and that is accepting he problem and seeking a solution. In five years you will be debt free, how many people will be in that situation? You will be the envy of your friends with a large disposible income left over to treat yourself and your kids to.
Be under no illusions that it will be tough on a strict budget,5 years is a long time, things will not always go to plan.Try to keep a small fund towards the unexpected[washing machines etc] because you[and the rest of us]have been so used to credit to fund this type of thing to not have this can seem strange.
Good luck and keep posting,we will all keep our fingers crossed for the 5th
Regards
Andy Davie

Good luck on the 5th Andrea.

Neverending is right, you have done the right thing, and you have faced up to your problems. 5 years is a long time - it seems like a lifetime to me at the moment! My boyfriend and I have decided that when this is over we are going to Florida for 3 weeks. It gives me something to look forward to, and it will be great knowing that I haven't borrowed any money to do it!

Give yourself something to aim for, and be proud of yourself!

One down, fifty nine to go until freedom!

Hi All

Thanks for all your advice. I really appreciate the kind things use have said.

Not been sleeping to well the last couple of nights. Had letters from one company saying they are not accepting and they have passed my details to the debt collection. Another one from my bank not giving any indication which way there going but they've issued a default notice anyway. Had one from ge money saying they understand my situation and they'll do everything they can to help, which was nice.

I've told my doc everything and he's given me sleeping tablets forthe next few days as he's actually going through an IVA himself I thought that it was very open of him as he said he did'nt sleep for 2 weeks before the creditors meeting.

I phoned my agent yesterday and he told me not to worry he would phone me as soon as he had any news on Tuesday. he did seem a bit in a hurry to get me of the phone and of course my brain put 2 and 2 together and came up with a £100.00, so of course panic set in that he knows and does not want to tell me. Oh my god I am losing it.

I just don't know what I'll do if it fails thats all I can think about.

Sorry to ramble AGAIN! it's panic panic panic.

Andrea

Hi Andrea, first of all, good luck for Tuesday - what time is your creditor's meeting? I was in a real panic on the day of my meeting - it was 11am and they didn't contact me until 1pm. I know it's only a couple of hours, but it may as well have been a lifetime!

I can't believe how open your doctor is! I do think that if people were more open, other people wouldn't feel ashamed or embarrassed. I told my friends and family, and I couldn't believe how supportive they were of me, as were the people on here.

Don't worry, I'm sure your agent didn't want to get you off the phone for any sinister reason - it's probably more like it was Friday and he wanted to take it easy!

You have done all you can now, and I'm sure you'll be fine on Tuesday. As other people have said on this forum, your IP has put a lot of time into preparing your IVA, and he/she will make good money from it - they wouldn't have proposed it if they didn't think it had a good chance of being accepted. Also, as your IP is making good money out of this, please don't allow them to rush you off the phone. They are there to answer your questions, and to make sure the IVA runs smoothly.

Take care,
Tracey

Hello,

Worry, stress and negativity come when you focus on those concerns you do not have control over .

However, you realized there was a problem with your finances, you did your research, filled in forms, did everything with good intensions. All you have to do now is wait for your IP who has put a lot of time into preparing your IVA to do his/her job and be positive.

I know it is easy to say but when you stop worrying you notice many things. Firstly, you feel better day-to-day and you achieve more things. Secondly, you do not try to second-guess the future - assuming bad stuff all the time - you relax with not knowing how things are going to turn out. Instead, you assume that whatever happens you will handle it.

Good luck and all the best,

Julia

Hi all

My IVA has been adjourned only two creditors voted yes the rest did'nt bother. The problem is its a joint iva with my partner and he only has 3 creditors and none of his bothered to vote. The other problem is his creditors are all the same. My IP has emailed them to try to get them to vote but he says the company that runs them is Kpgm or something like that and they never vote. So looks like its going to fail a week before christmas.

I'm so despondant now I don't know where to turn.

Oh Andrea
I am so sorry. I think your IP needs to pick up the phone to KPMG (they are accountants) and tell them if they don't vote then they will be getting nothing maybe as accountants that might make them think. In the past they may have got money from an IVA because enough voted they did not need to.

Hi
There does seem a reluctance at the moment for creditors to vote, you only have to look at the last few forum members who have been successful with their IVAs as they only had a handful of creditors vote between them.
At the worst could you just have an IVA in your name ? and then your partner could look to put his forward again at a later date.
