Hi All, its so good to be able to read these forums it has helped a lot. I have proposed an IVA, creditors meeting has been set, just getting worried now. Does the IP know results before creditors meeting? they say things are looking good ?....

Hi Rich and welcome to the forum.

What date is your creditor meeting?

The IP sometimes knows the result in advance but won't tell you until the actual date.

Which company are you using?

Hi Rich and welcome to the forum. Glad you've joined us and hope you'll keep posting. I do think some votes are in prior to the meeting but I don't think IP's like to divulge this as up until the meeting time creditors do have the right to amend their vote, I believe that is true.

However, I'm sure the best deal is on the table and it's a normal emotion to be worried prior to the meeting. Do you want to tell us when this is as we'll all send good luck vibes and who is your IP?

I'm in an IVA and Melanie Giles is my IP, Melanie posts on the forum and is very helpful not only to her only clients but to all with A1 advice. x

This is great and already I am feeling part of this forum. I want to help others also. I have around 15 creditors and my debt is £92000. I cant believe that I am writing this. My wife new nothing about this until about a month ago. I kept it all to myself, which was hard, trying to catch the post each day and rush home early. Payin one card off with another, until all available credit had nearly run out. I had to do something. I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. I just want to say thanks to all who have replied so far, it means a lot to know that I have people to turn to.

I'm with Payplan as well Rich and so far have been very pleased with the service. I know exactly where you are coming from, my hubby knew nothing until the creditors started ringing! It caused problems but we got it sorted.

I was fetching money out of the hole in the wall with my card then going straight into the bank and paying it across as my minimum payment! I was always worried that they would know what I had done and have a go at me about it!

Won't be long until the 18th and you should be able to enjoy Easter knowing that you'll be on the way to debt freedom.

The forum is always here for any support and advice you want.

Sounds like you're on track now Rich and that's the main thing. 18th will be here before you know it and we'll be here with you. Keep posting as your story will most definitely help someone else. You could always blog your story too and there's a fortnightly draw of blog of the week and they win vouchers to the value of £25.00 so it's worth doing if you're interested and if not now when the IVA's accepted and you're on the road to debt freedom.

Quite agree Lesley - the blogs are very therapeutic, especially when you are just starting out.

Another question for you. I notice that the address's that the proposals have been sent to are either Grant Thornton or the Insolvency Exchange, accept for one, American Express. Who are these people ? Barclays and Coop have gone to Grant Thornton. Does that mean that if he turns down the Barclays one, then the coop one will also been rejected? Lloyds and Halifax have gone to the Insolvency Exchange. Does anyone know how these people/companies work?

I'm not sure how they work Rich, I don't think is much of a problem with the voting though.

One of the professionals can help with this and I'm sure they'll be on soon.

Hi Rich
My understanding is that GT and Tix take instructions from your creditors as to how they want to vote and represent them on the day. It is likeley that GT for example will have a mixture both yes and no votes to put into the pot, they themselves do not decide on the votes but represent the creditors wishes
