Hi fuzzy and welcome to the forum. I would think an iva may well be a way forward. Best thing to do is to get advice form a good IP and see what they think. There are a few great IP's on this site, Meanie comes highly recommended and would have been my choice if I had known at the time, but you can also get reviews on companies and IP's on iva.com. It is never a bad idea to get a couple of opinions and compare notes to see they think the same way.

All the best

Ang

Hi and welcome.
I agree with everything Ang has said.
Have a look at www.iva.com where you can find reviews of different IP's
I would also recomend giving Melanie Giles a call. Her details can be found on the experts page.
Her team will give you nothing but honest proffessional advice.
Good luck.

Hi Fuzzy and welcome to the forum.

Sounds as though an IVA could be right for you, but as the others have said, you need to give an IP a ring.

As Mrs Skint says, you can't go far wrong giving Melanie a call.

It is strange that you were advised to do a DMP in the first place, where an IVA would clearly be a better option based upon timescale. Which DMP company are you with, and did they discuss the option of an IVA with you?

I would definetly give another IP a ring to get some advice. BR obviously isn't an option as you have your own home, but they should have discussed an IVA with you.

I think that you need to be asking the CCCS why they did not suggest an IVA to you in the first place. As this organisation is funded by creditors, perhaps that they feel that a 13 year DMP is in the best interests of their clients, but it may not be in yours. Have the creditors stopped charging you interest or calling and writing to you?

Hi Fuzzy,Image
I was with CCCS and they to never reccomended an IVA either,it would have taken me at least 15 years to pay off my debt under a DMP,like you I got sick of having interest stopped for a bit and then getting your next statement and interest being added again,it was a complete hassle all the time.
We are now in an IVA with another company and we actually pay £100 a month LESS than we did in a DMP.
Keep your nose in the wind and your eyes along the skyline.

most creditors have stopped interest but certain ones refuse to do so i am having a few promlems with dca's though very aggressive threatening letters and when i try to reason with them via phonecalls its even worse.

Get moving on the iva front. I wouldnt pay a penny more into a dmp coz its not even going to make a tiny dent in your debt.
CCCS have shafted you. For anyone who thinks thats a bit strong,it isnt. The iva could have been running for almost a year now, thats a 5th of the way in!!
Discharged today the 8th feb 2012. View is much brighter now.
Continuing to rebuild our credit worthiness.
