You can make token payments if you wish but it will have little or no affect on the outcome of your meeting.
Steve.

IVA approved!

Hi,

Personally, I wouldn't bother paying them if you are heading towards an IVA.

However the choice is yours, and it may be that they stop calling you. The same may be said of making token payments to other creditors.

It may stop the calls, but will make no difference to the voting.

If you are going to make token payments to one then you should make them to them all otherwise you will be preferring one over the other and that wont go down too well.

I agree with Mrs S..if you pay 1 creditor you should pay them all.

You can just tell them again and again you're proposing an IVA.

I would not bother paying them. Ultimately it is up to you and whether you wish or can afford to make a token payment. I would just explain that i am starting an IVA and you will be hearing from the IP in the near future.

It will make very little difference, and if these guys spot that you will weaken they may well pursue you even harder. Remember debt collectors work on the basis of earning commission on the amounts they collect!

Hi
We have had stories of people making a payment only to find the same creditor on the phone the next day.
I would also feel uncomfortable giving a creditor my card details, what if they make a mistake and take more than they say ?

Who knows if it is a mistake? If they have the card details they could take what they wanted.

Andydavie,

This happened to me. I wanted to pay GE Money some money off my account. In total it was £25 i wanted to pay. They tried to put the details through three times, but each time it was declined. I then phoned my bank as i new i had some money in the account. I asked why they had declined the transaction. It was then that they told me they had tried to take £2500 on each attempt. Never paid a bill by debit card since, always now pay buy check.
It is scary to think that if i did have the money in the account, then it would have been paid.
