Hi I AM 3.5 YEARS INTO AN IVA WITH MU HUSBAND. Unfortunatley we have split up and my husband has lost his job , so it is likely the iva will fail and i will have to move out of our house with the children. There is no equity in the property. My husband says he has got a private tenancy but when i have checked with letting agents they all say they do credit checks . My mum and dad have said they will be guarantors but am worried about iva and being homeless

Hi Tamzin, yes most letting agencies do credit checks but if you can find a private landlord they are usually more amenable, the other option as you mention is to have someone to act as guarantors, the best thing to do is to have a chat with a couple of agents and be upfront about your circumstances and see what they say.

Have you spoken to your IP regarding your IVA and your new circumstances? they won't want to fail your IVA at this stage and may be able to offer advice?

Many people do manage to get private lettings whilst they are in an IVA Tamzin - and if your parents are good to be guarantors then there is no real risk for a future landlord.

Sorry to see that you are having a bad time right now.
