hi recovering, that's great that you've got the bank account set up[:)]! it would be good to open a saving account before the IVA,it isn't safe keeping savings in the house.

we got a CO OP saving account too Kazza - like you we can move £ between the 2 accounts if we get short BUT it's also meant that cash for glasses etc is seperate.

we enquired in the Yorkshire Building Society(not bank) & they will accept people wanting to save in a IVA.

Recovering, you are doing well. if you feel very low you should talk to your DR, but i'm positive you'll feel much better& more in control of things once the IVA is set up. keep posting, you're not alone, hug x

hi, so you've applied for a saving account-with CO OP?

getting it set up before the IVA is easier. i'm sure that'll be fine - you're doing better than you give yourself credit for[;)].

As an alternative Co-Op will let you have another Cashminder, so you can keep one account to service regular payements ( DD;s etc) and one for savings (it won't pay any interest, but, at the moment even savings accounts pay very little).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I've always thought that is a good idea Foggy. I suppose it depends upon which sort of account you want.

Denise.8, Nationwide get a big thumbs up from me. Throughout my IVA years I had no issues with them whatsoever. Providing they are not one of your creditors, I would highly recommend thyem from my own personal experience. Good luck with the IVA.

The ISA is instant access recovering. I love the fact as soon as I press the button on line it's in the cashminder, but any savings account will be fine. I didn't have an ISA elsewhere so thought I may as well.

Co-Op and halifax both allowed us to open savings accounts on line whilst we were in our IVA's.

You were lucky with the Co-op then luluj as they are known to refuse to open up savings accounts for anyone in an IVA.

Maybe it's a recent change Jan - luckily I took advice from here and opened the ISA before the IVA was approved. Although as said on here before there's nothing to stop you opening a 2nd cashminder.

Excellent news on the first two.

The third is scary as you will get hassle once they know what you are doing. I never sent any letters, I let my ip do it.
