It is a daunting step - makes it seem more real.

Highly unlikely but you will get phone calls and letters.

They do ring and write or you may be lucky and not get much hassle. Seems to vary between creditors. x

Dont worry I only got phone calls so I just let my answer phone take them. Its amazing how they put the phone down as soon as they the machine. You can ring anyone else back.

Believe me there is nothing quite so good as seeing your bank account a couple of days after pay day when you have cancelled all your direct debit to your creditors. The weight off of my shoulders was immense. It was the best decision I had made in a long time. I am now 3 and half years in and cruising. The phone calls are a small price to pay. Just screen them and make excuses to family if you dont want them to know, like how you were in the toilet or didnt hear the phone. Before you know it the creditors will stop calling. My biggest piece of advice is that from know on be totally honest to your IVA company, get the pay slips sent in and tell them of any extra money you get. Play by the rules and I am sure You will be fine. Honestly get it done, it feels so good to have some stabiltiy and enough money to cope again. The refief is fantastic

The chances of anyone visiting are minimal, they threaten but very rarely appear and even if they did you don't have to let them in. xx

Well -- you have unplugged the phone, so no worries there. It's very unlikley that they will send someone to your door, especially if you don't give them time to get themselves organised.
You don't have to send letters, but they will -- might -- try to contact you as soon as they notice the payments have stopped. With Mel as your IP this won't last long before the IVA is set up.

You have atarted the process, just turn mel's post around as fast as you can and get on with it. The sooner it is set up the better you will feel .... and be able to sleep easier !!!
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

recovering - you will be fine. It is very rare that anybody calls round and even if they do you don't have to speak to them.

We're always here for support and a kick as well if you need it!!

get the letters out asap - you will feel so much better when its all done and letters in the post. I had numerous phone calls daily until acceptance but either ignored them or dealt with them. That bit soon passes and when it does it will be like a new beginning. Please don't put it off any longer you are with one of the best IVA firms and Mel and her team will look after you all the way. Go on and be brave - we are all here to support you and by the way nobody ever called at my door!!!!
