hi to new guy's,welcome. we went with the CO OP, found them very good,no problems.
regarding IP's don't go with anyone wanting up front fee's. post who you're thinking of using & people will post personal feedback. you are fine to start making calls, getting some advice now. if you feel a IVA is right for you stop all min. payments & save spare cash to be your emergency fund.
as soon as we'd chosen a IP we worked to the budgets for food etc,it helps to start practising your budgeting at this point.
it can be very stressful,i had some very dark days myself, fleetingly feeling i couldn't cope.... thankfully with support from here we got there, you will too.
well done for facing up to the debts[V],that takes courage & a very deep breath![;)]

Welcome recovering, you have taken the hardest step, initially the prospect of an iva seems rather daunting, i think we have all been there, you'll find though, as time goes by, things will become much clearer.
It doesn't matter how many questions you want to ask, just ask them, you will recieve really good advice, the forum is very supportive, all the best with your iva journey.
Whilst the bank account is important you can take free impartial advice from 2 or 3 companies too. They'll give you very informed case specific advice. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Well I made the call today I am waiting for a call from an ip [:(] long day traded in my beloved car for a cheaper option am hoping this is the start of me sorting out the complete mess i have made of my life!
hi, well if it's cheaper to run the car makes sense - fuel costs are crazy!
you'll be ok. i know this part is awful,it's facing the debt, ours was breath taking! yes things are a mess right now but we're all living proof that you can get help& sort things out.
learning to live within our means is important,so hope the new car's a good'n for you. which IP are you waiting on?
Nothing stays the same...everything changes..hang on in there!
that frist phone call is a big step, only done it last week. Fell a lot better for it.
only used cash this week, cant tell you how good I fell after just one week with no c/cards.
IVA now over with and it was worth it.
now starting my life again,
Hiya, well done for taking the first step. Hope you find the best solution for you and your family. It can be stessful but be proud of yourself for starting to sort things out.
The start of this process is very daunting, for some reason moving my current account bothered me as I'd always been happy with my bank but they were one of my creditors so I didn't have an option, so I do understand how you feel. I can honestly say it's a stressful process, I imagine it's not an easy journey - I'm only 4 months in and it's still a relief for me! - but it is definitely the best decision I've ever made.
I don't feel stressed constantly, I can sleep at night, unmanageable debt is a terrible burden, and dealing with it initially is stressful but once the IVA is accepted the relief is HUGE. Also on the issue of acceptance, I know I felt like I'd be the only one who would be refused, one of the reason I thought I'd be refused was my dividend was low, however within 4 months I've already increased my repayments as my income has increased. It's amazing how things start turning around once you face up to the debt.

I really hope i can sleep soon! its the constant sinking feeling that i hate! I now have to write to all my creditors...am praying the co-op send details of new bank account before lloyds find out... i wish i had a fast forward button
If you have contacted an IP then they will contact your creditors for you and you don't have to write if you don't want to.
If you do write yourself then just explain that you can no longer afford the payments and are looking into an IVA.
You will have phone calls and letters from the creditors regardless.
With the bank account, make sure you don't approach HSBC or First Direct as they are not IVA friendly.
