It will get better soon, recovering.

I didn't write to any of my creditors. The first they heard was when they were sent the details from my IP.

I think once I have my account details through from co-op i can actually feel like i can do something, am paranoid about lloyds cleaning out my account before i set up DD's etc. I was approved over phone by co-op but no account number yet, once that is done i can decide on writing etc

At least you have been approved - it won't be long before you get your details through.

Hi recovering I felt exactly like you about setting up a bank account prior to our IVA being approved. I hope you get your details in writing soon then you can tick this box off in your mind and it will help you a little to stop worrying about that aspect of things. If you ring the co-op maybe they will be in a position to give you your account number etc. - worth a try maybe? I'm not sure if they can do this by 'phone due to Data Protection but might be worth a try
Best wishes

Hello Denise
I got my IVA approved last Tuesday and was really nervous too. I had been with the same bank for 26 years and my biggest debt was with them. It was a difficult decision to change banks, but I went to Halifax and they were very helpful. But I will say keep an eye on whats incoming, I and my partner are both retired and its taken four phone calls and constant watching to see what was going where, after four weeks I finally managed to get our state pensions paid into the new account. I still have £135 missing and adrift in the pensions somewhere but am chasing it as I type.
But its not so scary once you have committed yourself to applying, and it is nice not having to worry so much.

Dont be scared, I used Clear Debt and their advice was brilliant.
28 down 32 to go, seems like a long way but one bit at a time

Hi, Recovering.

I know exactly how you feel; those first steps are very worrying and confusing! I can only reiterate what others have already said... The sooner you start the process, the sooner you'll start to feel better. My creditors meeting is tomorrow!

I am with Melanie Giles and they really have been excellent! I tried a different company before finding this website and the difference in customer service was light years away (Mel being the better of the two)!

Give them a call (as one of your two or three); you won't be disappointed.

...and keep posting!

Excellent news recovering. You can start sorting things out now and know that Lloyds won't be able to take your money.

We all have bad days and often let off steam on here, it does help.

You don't have to write to the creditors yourself - I never did. My IP wrote to them for me.

It's totally up to you, it is what you feel comfortable with. You don't have to make any token payments but if you feel happier doing it, then fine.

Hi recovering. Regarding writing to creditors, you should do whatever feels right to you. Some make token payments, some don't. It won't affect the outcome in the end.

Personally as soon as I decided to go down the IVA route I didn't contact my creditors at all. When they phoned I just told them I was going into an IVA (OK ... I did play "cat and mouse" with a couple!).
