Hi, I recently had an appointment with CCCS and was about to start a DMP paying 455 over approximately 4 years (approx 20k in debt). I have since been laid of (could be for a long as 3-4 months but with a view to being taken back on). I have got another appointment with CCCS next week but wondered as I'm about to claim unemployment benefit what my best options would be? Thanks. PS. Great website!

Hey rachelt, welcome to the forum. Sorry about your job. You could just pay very small token payments until you're taken back on or declare yourself bankrupt. I'm sure the CCCS will go over all your options with you. Hang in there and one of the technical experts will give you some advice. Good luck. X

Hi Rachel, and welcome.

You can continue on a DMP with benefits, but obviously you aren't going to be able to pay as much. Is there no chance of you getting another job in the meantime?

Do you own your own property or have any assets? If not, bankruptcy is another option to think about.

I am sure CCCS will go through this with you next week.

Trying to avoid bankruptcy and yes, should back up to part-time hours at least in a couple of weeks. Hopefully then should be able to offer them something until the work picks up again. Will see what CCCS say next week. x
