Listen to foggy! Creditors will call but you dont have to get tied into conversation and you dont have to give them any more money. You are taking control of finances. I spoje to a few and most just took note of mels ref numver snd that was that. Some tried to get me to pay but i just said no and hung up. in the end i just ignored them and put phonr on silent!!! Theyve had enough money from me!! Focus on getting all your paperwork together now Ox the sooner mel has all that the sooner things can progress and the calls will stop. The creditors arent your 'priority' now. Its hard when never missed payments before though. All that miney you were payibg them can be kept aside for when in your iva...any charges from missed payments will get absorbed by the iva. Dont throw anymore money at them now youve made your decision! Theyll get over it!!!

Ok thanks all
Waiting for a call today to get going etc, ready and waiting
Still though questioning whether doing the right thing but I assume thats natural and I have to deal with my debts for the kids and 12 years plus on a DMP and BR would have not been options.

Must try and enjoy weekend and stop panicking....

That's right OX -- enjoy the weekend -- it might be our only "summer" !

Whatever we do, in all walks of life, there is always the question as to whether things could be done differently, or should you have got a different washer / car / mobile phone ... and on ... and on .... We just have to make a choice then run with it and put the questions to the background whilst dealing with the here and now.

At least with an IVA you have a definite end point, more protection for the house and car then in BR and an excellent team working on your behalf.

In 5 years this will all be behind you and a fresh start beckons.

No point in fearing the unknown. It is up to me to ensure that you get the best representation possible, to make failure not an option.

Tina should have advised you of the documentation we require - but we have a formal letter coming out to you tomorrow in any case.
With apologies, but Mel's words brought this to my addled mind ....

This weekend you need to take time out and go play with those lovely kiddies of yours. The sun will be shining, and you can do this in the knowledge that your problems have in part been passed over to a professional team who present IVA proposals for a living. We know what we are doing, and there is absolutely no point in now worrying as you have already tackled the worst bits.

The kids will pick up on Daddy's moods, and wonder if they have done anything wrong to annoy, so promise me for the next two days you will forget about the IVA application and spend some quality time for those you need you to be with them. You work hard enough during the week, so take some time out now for chillax.

And think of me, struggling to put on a dinner party for ten guests tomorrow evening when I absolutely cannot cook and am now having palpitations about getting everything to be ready on time. Oh joy - I know what I would rather be doing!

you have done the hard bit.
I thought exactly the same as you at the outset.
look at my months left to do in my name box.you can do it same as me.mel will sort you and then look after you during your iva period.just think of it as a 5 year intrest free loan.then its not too bad is it.

Good luck ox, you have done the right thing and things will now get easier. When we were at this stage we unplugged the phone so we didn't have to answer it and get involved with creditors.
Life after IVA is wonderful.

I hope so

Had a good day yesterday and slept well on Friday

Today feel a bit worried about the future, I have young children and there is alot of childhood left.

Will we survive the next few years in our house and pay the mortgage etc, these things are worrying me silly today , shame as I felt better yesterday.

These thoughts will come and go, Ox, and, as you settle in to the IVA, or life after a F&F IVA, they will diminish.

Many of us have young children and houses to worry about, but we mustn't let that, natural, worrying interfere with providing. We have to strike a balance. I have just (literally) become a single parent, in an IVA, with a 6 year old to care for. Yes, I worry, and yes, I will come here to moan and rant, but, at the end of the day, I can only do my best and get the most out of the hand that I have been dealt for the sake of the young'un.

Are you taking meds from your GP yet? They will take a couple of weeks to really kick in and, once you are on your way, all will get better.
