Hi Lesley
I just wanted to say reading your first post was exactly how my hubby and I felt when we realised we were in trouble. Like you, we avoided it for such a long time. You have made the biggest step admitting you have a problem and dealing with it. We are in an interlocking iva, one I and E one monthly payment and it is working well for us. The stress is gone each month as to how we are going to pay the minimum payments on things. There will be a solution, dont worry about talking to companies as they deal with this every day and I have never spoken to anyone who made me feel ashamed or that it was my fault. I would also recommend Melanie to talk to. Get all the info understand everything and ask questions. You will find the forum great support. All the very best to you both

well he's been and gone, a fee charging debt management company, we don't have enough disposable income and the ratio of mortgage to salary is too high for us to go down the IVA route at present, a couple of companies have said this so I'm guessing they're not both wrong on that score. Got payplan (anyone got dealings with these) ringing me on Tuesday for a more involved interview re my income and expenditure. I do feel slightly better and my husband feels so much better. I just panic at the thought of all the phone calls and letters and what if this and what if that? is all going around in my head at present.

Edited to say, I didn't sign anything and he wasn't pressuring us into signing anything so we're still in the same position as we was this morning.

IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

We had over the 40% mark on our house too - we took the decision to sell up - after all because of all the money we had ploughed into the house we were then sitting there staring our debt in the face day in day out and getting ourselves worked up - sell up, move into rented - we have had our IVA approved on the understanding that the house was sold - this was approved on Tuesday and boy do I feel good!
