I've done many IVAs for people whose income is from caring, and so far as I am aware there is no problem in at least putting this forward. Your creditors were not choosy when deciding to lend you the money, and should afford you the same courtesy when you are struggling to repay it.

Depending on your overall circumstances an IVA make be the appropriate solution - it will be a non-compliant protocol one - but that is not a problem. Either speak to Melanie or visit www.iva.com for recommendations on other practitioners. Don't worry there is always a solution.Let us know how you get on.

Hi I just wanted to say that I too am a carer and I was advised that BR was my best option, I did try for an IVA but on benefits there really wasnt enough in the pot to propose one. I also worked full time before but had to cut to part time, I was told that an IVA was possible with that and the carers.

All I really wanted to say to you was, whatever your best option is, please dont let it make you ill. Youre the most important person in all of this. Everything else can be sorted out, there will be an answer for you somewhere. I was scared stiff of BR but when I went to see a money adviser and she explained it all to me, it didnt seem half as bad as I was expecting. I had visions of them taking everything out of my house and questioning me in court, neither of these things happen.

Good luck to you when speaking to Melanie, I hope that you can get some help from members of the forum to help you feel better about everything.

Very best wishes.
LILY

I asked God for an answer, I have to live with his reply.
