Hi new to this forum. Been looking at the posts and a lot of people have asked where to get a copy of the CCCS 2012 guidelines (think that's the most recent)
All of the responses I can find seem to be woolly and from insolvency practitioners??, and they wont give the info:-( They all simply state to work out what you actually spend.
I have done that and through initial discussions with a representative, I have been told I need to reduce some of these by stupid amounts.
I expect I am not the only one here wanting to try and off set what I am been told to reduce by increasing another that I am towards the lower end of the guideline.
I have found a copy of the 2010 guidelines, just cant find the most recent. Any help finding a good torrent or the like would be a great help.
look forward to being pointed in the right direction.
Cheers

There was a link recently to the new guidelines - you should be able to search Stepchange Guidelines 2012 I think. If you are able to private message me, I can email you the attachment?

We are an active family 2 adults 3 kids. I believe as dose the NHS in avoiding processed food as it is simply bad for your health... We try and have a varied diet eating only fresh locally produced food. An IVA seems to expect you to live in processed foreign food horse rats and the like????
Our kids do out of school activities 4 nights a week, both myself and wife enjoy 5 nights of classes and activities that keeps us fit and active.
Looks like IVA, is code for oven chips and another fat family for the NHS to deal with...
I am guessing these guidelines are an embarrassment, and that's why they are hidden. Give them to a nutritionist and the likes and they will tell us to go bankrupt and save our self.

Hi ben,
I always found the allowances to be generous. We eat healthily and managed very well.
As to activities, yes you may have to curtail some of these. An IVA is not a punishment but on the other hand you cannot live the life we used to live as in the main these were reliant on credit.
I think what you say is a little unfair. Ok maybe your children wouldn't be able to do activities 4 nights a week but there is plenty of things that can be done as a family that are free and keep you active.
The thing to remember is - if someone needs an IVA then they cannot service their debts. Creditors won't expect you to eat 'oven chips', but we have to meet them halfway to be able to repay as much as we can.

Generous??? you sound like a person who has written them.
You tell my oldest when he has to choose judo, athletics, swimming or football. oh no, sorry he cant do them all for the next 5-6 years. tell all my kids..... tell them there birthdays and Christmas is cancelled.
Have you read the 2010 guidelines? £6 per MONTH for school trips and ACTIVITIES, and £11 pocket money?? GENEROUS???
you don't know what the hell you are talking about Kazza....
I strongly believe my misfortune should NOT effect my children from having a normal childhood... and £6 per month SERIOUSLY WILL. Generous my flipping foot.............

Ben10, please be respectful to Kazza. We're all here to help and we do not write them we have all lived by them at some point myself included due to being in an IVA.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

don't be so quick to judge other people on there life style, you know nothing about me, or the circumstances. So I find your criticism very offensive.
you have not addressed my question proposed, so I guess you just like to kick a dog when its down???

Ben - I did not write them. I had to enter into an IVA due to ill health and we had built up a considerable amount of debt in the years previously. We were living off credit to be able to pay the credit cards. Take away all the debt and leave us with an amount to live on and with careful budgeting we managed just fine. I cook all our food from scratch and could carry on doing this in the IVA.
I can tell you are angry by the capitals but I do know what I am talking about. I have since trained as a money adviser for a local charity and have to say most people I helped (on a voluntary basis before you suggest I am a paid worker in the insolvency business) were relieved to be able to clear their debts and to have a budget to stick to. You can discuss expenses with an insolvency practitioner and they can write these into a proposal. They will then be considered by creditors.
I think it's purely a decision as to carry on with debt or enter into an agreement where there is an end in sight. Everybody has a choice, but IVA's and bankruptcy work for many people.

if I think someone is talking rubbish I will say so.....

ok KAZZA
apologies for being abrupt.
You have read my original question, but have not addressed it. Being an advisor you should be able to provide me with the information I have asked for?

No one speaks rubbish on here just their opinion. And I find the allowances quite generous. If my IVA is accepted tomorrow I will be better off than before and I have two children too.
