Hi peeps

My car has finally passed away sadly, costs are to high to repair, moving on I completed my iva June 2010, with a hefty deposit say £3000 (which I saved and very proud of) against a car £5000 do I have any chance in obtaining car finance or am I wasting my time until June when it drops off my credit file? Thanks

I'm not sure phil but you could get a decent car with that 3k without taking on new credit? just a thought

Hi Phil,

Sorry to hear about your car, not good when that happens.

With that sort of deposit you can certainly get one from Duncton. Hi APR but they are very good with those of us with a less than perfect credit history.

I know what you are saying and totally agree but I am desperate to repair my credit score and thought this would be the best way of doing it, since completing my IVA I am so careful I have really saved hard and still keep to my budget, I really have learnt my lesson.

Give Duncton a try - one or two of the posters on here have used them and rate them.

The cars are very up to date as well.

RIP little car. Sounds like a great opportunity to rebuild your score. A typical APR with Dunton is about 34% which is crummy but on about two thousand it's not extortionate and will get you well on your way to a normal credit rating and normal APRs in future. Congrats on completing and saving that big old pot of gold x

Hi Skippy good to hear from you to.

Thanks for your advice folks Ive decided to wait a few more months and save in the meantime, Im not prepared to take out finance with such a high apr, I still have use of my partners car, one other lesson ive learnt is patience, so hopefully when iva drops off in June I will be able to have finance at a lower rate. Kind regards Phil

Fingers crossed it works out for you Phil.

I've decided that cars are a necessary evil - mine has decided to play up and has a water leak to rival Niagra Falls and today a suspension spring snapped!

Glad you got your new motor Phil and hope it runs smoothly for you. Well done on paying for it too all from your own money. xx
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
