Hi sorry need to pick your brains again. My hubby and I have been allowed £313.00 a month for housekeeping(food etc ) is that the normal allowance for two adults in an iva ? Think the forum is great by the way so nice to be able to talk to others in the same situation as ourselves.Have not been able to tell any of our family or friends about our iva.Feel too ashamed we have got into such a mess with our finances.
hi atbav, this sounds about average, we were allowed £380 for two adults and one child, this has gone up now due to the child being a teenage locust [:)]
A lot of us are still in the position of nobody knowing, you're not on your own and at least you're tackling your debts.

The £313 is the CCCS figure for maximum allowance for housekeeping whilst in an IVA - but if you spend more and can justify the reasons why, then your creditors ought to allow a higher figure. What do you actually spend as a matter of interest?
Only just in our second month of our iva spent about £310 last month on food. Not finding the allowance too bad as long as you don't buy convenience foods so am doing more cooking from scratch!Heard various figures banded about for housekeeping must be more difficult to survive if you have a large family.
Just learning slowly how to live on a strict budget it will be hard not having credit cards to fall back on but they were the cause of our current problems.
Yes we are with payplan and they have been great not judgemental at all.
Well 2 payments made only 58 to go!
Actually I think that the allowances are harder on single people rather than families, but glad to hear that you are coping - and perhaps eating a little more healthily!
My food allowance is £195 for me as a single person - way more than i allowed myself before the IVA but i do tend to use the money elsewhere that i am struggling which puts me back to shopping in my moms cupboards!!
not really sure how much we spend Wife does all the shopping (Iabsolutely hate doing any) But she spends all her wages and the family allowance so must be about £130 a week

Shame on you!!! Well you are not too far off the mark with that budget, and with a couple of economies ought to fit comfortably in that guideline figure.
hi £550 seems ok to us, this includes everything from food to laundry products and packed lunches when children are not having school diners. if you want the children to eat their 5 a day and have good homemade meals , i think i would struggle with a smaller budget. i dont feel guilty having the max allowance, as we dont go out drink or smoke,
