I am so glad that I came across this site, it has given me hope that I am not alone. Prior to finding this site, I really did not know who to talk to, so I just buried my head in the sand [:(] hoping the problem will go away.

For the last few days I have tried to keep up with the posts in this site so that I can learn as much as I can. At the very least, I now know that I need to talk to the professionals so that they can advice me with what options I have. I have completed the enquiry form from Melanie's site and I have also been contacted by someone from Thomas Charles & Co.

Thank you very much for this wonderful site.

Onward and forward for a debt free future!!!

Hi there head in the sand, hopefully you will change that soon to head out of the sand. Welcome to the forum from me. You are doing the best thing to look around the site, read the blogs and get as much info as you can. You wont get much better than Melanie so well done.
Anything that you are unsure of ask, or if you prefer to ask Melanie I found it easier to write any questions down as I thought of them, I can get senior moments when on the phone and cant remember a thing.
Anyway well done you.

Hi - welcome,

As everyone has said you'll get good advice from Melanie. I only wish I'd heard of her before starting the IVA process. I went with Thomas Charles and I found them very slow, then they passed me onto Accuma to do the actual IVA. I believe Melanie does the process from start to finish herself.

Good luck.

I wouldn't touch Accuma for all the tea in China. Mel is highly recommended as being one of those old fashioned IVA practitioners that simply do the job properly !!

Hi JD

Why wouldn't you use Accuma? We've just completed our first year so early days I know, but they've been brilliant with us. Be interesting to know anyone else's' experiences though.

I have spoken to many of their 'customers' who did not have a suitable or indeed viable IVA proposal and subsequently failed. I have seen couples with joint debts in an IVA with all the joint income taken for the VA and only one of the couple in a VA. The other being relentlessley pursued by the creditors etc etc. I am sure that they must have provided a great service to some people. I just have not met any, well until now anyway. I also knew people who worked at one of their offices (now closed) and was not 'comfortable' with what i heard but again, unable to prove anything.

My opinion is therefore just that, an opinion. I am glad your experience did not match my opinion of Accuma.

Hi head in sand (although agree with other posters should now be changed to something more appropriate!!)

Its easy to muddle on, juggle things around and try to carry on as 'normal' but it can only continue for so long until you need to take action. Well done for facing up to that fact as it can be very difficult.
You can learn an awful lot from the forum and get lots of support, but you will be guided through the whole process and what your options are by Melanie (good choice by the way[:)])

Keep in touch

I think that many of us have been in your position so can totally empathise with you, I felt very alone and the only person in the world with my uncontrollable debt situation until I came on here, I went with Melanie and her team and believe me, the other posters aren't just saying Melanie and team are good, they are professional at their job and you'll never be a number always a name which to me meant so much. As soon as you ring they know who you are, it's an amazing service they give you.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
