Hi Head in sandand welcome to the forum. I think most of us have been where you are at one time or another - I know I denied I had a problem for years. Making the decision to do something is the first step, and well done for that x

Thank you all for the very warm welcome. I am still in the process of reading the blogs in this site also along with trying to keep up the posts.

I have gone through my I & E and was totally shocked how much debt I have accumulated. It just illustrated how deeply in a hole I am. Having objective eyes looking at my situation and provide advice is the only way I can see myself getting out of this deep hole.
Onward and forward for a debt free future!!!

Hi Head in the Sand,
I agree about you being able to change your name soon - well done in making that first move, and here's to a a successful and debt free journey for you.
I know what you mean about writing it all down, and seeing there in black and white how much you actually owe.
I only found this site just before I had my meeting, but have found the advice and stories etc a godsend.
k.

N ow i am so glad i did, and with the support from this forum you will get through this.

our meeting is on monday and although i am nervous about it i know i could not have carried on the way i was just getting deeper and deeper - at least my debt problems are being faced now and for that alone i feel better! You will too!

Everyone is behind you - good luck!

Hi, Swans girl,
With response to your comment below:

Why wouldn't you use Accuma? We've just completed our first year so early days I know, but they've been brilliant with us. Be interesting to know anyone else's' experiences though.

We are with Accuma and are coming up to our first years review in May.
We haven't had any problems with them as long as we pay what we have to we haven't heard anything from them. The only niggly thing we find is that you have to pay 50% of overtime, but we are used to it now but my Husband always say he works that hard just for them to take half... oh well!
Have you had a yearly review? i just wondered what information they need?

Hi Mrs Positive,

I'm happy with Accuma - just completed first year. I wasn't so happy with Thomas Charles who were the company I first approached in July 06. The IVA finally started in Feb 07.

The review was fine, just filled out an I&E form and sent the most recent payslip.

Let me know if I can help any further.

Hi head in sand and welcome to this excellent forum,
You have already taken the hardest step of all, admitting you have a problem. The next biggest step for me was talking to someone about it and you have done that, so well done. You are already well on your way to sorting out your problems, and you couldn't be in better hands than Melanie and her team who will look after you every step of the way. It is not an easy road to take and you will have your good days and bad days, but things will get better for you from now on. This really is an excellent forum and you will get some amazing help and support, we have all been there and know exactly what you are going through and how you feel. It is so easy to get into debt, and very frightening once you take your head out of the sand. I will never forget the feeling of desperation, sleepless nights and the whole nightmare of facing up to serious debt. But you have taken those first hurdles and you will soon start to see light at the end of the tunnel, it can be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but hang on in there and you will get through this. Good luck and keep posting!
Very best wishes
Mike
