Your chances will be better when your 6 years is up --- but different banks have different policies ( and some, it seems rely on the weather !). But, your basic account has served well for 5 years or so, another year won't hurt. I have been with the co-op for a year now, and will probbaly stay with them after my IVA finishes as their account does everything I need it to.

I had a basic bank account with the Co-op and it wouldn't have worried me to keep it. The only reason I didn't was I had a pre BR full Nationwide Flexaccount and it seemed silly not to use it.
I'm happy with my Nationwide Bank Account, especially as it now has a debit card. I do still have my full Barclays account as well though (pre IVA) and will possibly go back to that at the end of the IVA.

I still have my pre-IVA Halifax account with a tenner in, just seeing what happens to it --- Halifax were one of my creditors. If it survives the IVA I'll see, just because I would have been with them for decades. But, as I said, it offers no more than the co-op (except cheques, which I never used anyway).

Nationwide weren't one of my creditors, hence being able to use the account without too many worries. It's handy for me as I collect and pay out the monthly charity collections at work so I can now write my own cheques rather than putting in a cheque req each month!
I use my Barclays account, otherwise it becomes inactive. I just pay my mobile phone bill out of there. Not had any problems so far.
