Hi there

Hoping you can advise me and put my mind at rest! I'm 2 years into my IVA (no missed payments etc) and I'm in the process of applying for a job at a childrens charity. There is a question on the application form which reads 'Do you have a prosecution pending or have you ever received a caution, been conditionally discharged or been convicted by a court of any offence?' I'm not sure if I should declare my IVA (is a CCJ a court conviction?) also I'll be subjected to an enhanced CRB check and I'm terrified that I'll blow my chances if I don't declare it and then it gets discovered. I'd like to think that if I did declare it the charity would be fine but would rather it didn't get mentioned if at all possible. Help!

Hi and welcome.

Don't worry about the form, it is purely for criminal convictions and an IVA or CCJ is not one of those.

Enhanced CRB check should be ok as well.

You most certainly do not have to disclose details on this form of your IVA. This relates to criminal convictions as Jan has mentioned, and not civil matters such as a restructuring of your debts.

Thanks Jan and Melanie. Wish I'd found this forum before I got my IVA (I'd have definitely got in touch with you Melanie over the company I went with!) it's really helped a lot reading the posts and knowing you have support from people who are going through similar situations. It does feel like life is on hold sometimes but knowing you're not alone means a lot [:)] thanks again

Thanks Rebecca - and don't forget you can use the forum as much as you like. We really are here to help, and best of luck with the job application. There can be nothing more rewarding than working for a children's charity, and I wish you the very best of luck with your application.
