I have had a pretty tough couple of years.. fighting depression amongst other things. I have decided to go for an IVA and am awaiting the paperwork from Thomas Charles. My partner suprised me last night by telling me he was taking me on holiday for two weeks in August because he thinks I could do with the break.. time to chill out. I am worried that this will reflect badly on me even though I won't have paid a penny.

What your partner spends his money on is nothing to do with your IVA go on holiday and relax, you'll come back feeling loads better. It's something nice for you to look forward to ENJOY![8D]

Thats a relief. He has been extremely supportive and I was worried they might see it as a luxury even though i wont have paid for it. At least I can go now without worrying too much.

Guys

I just want to reiterate all of the points made by the posters to enjoy your holiday.

An IVA is not meant to require you to put your life on hold for five years, but just to make affordable payments in respect of your debts within a supervised arrangement. It is these breaks away from work which recharge the batteries and enable you all to soldier on with the repayments.

Enjoy!

Definitely enjoy your holiday. Everyone needs a break.

Just as an afterthought Melanie would you suggest that people put down a figure on their IVA expediture to allow for 1 break a year say £15 per month perhaps ?. Would this be a problem for an IP to justify to a creditor at a creditors meeting ?
