Bit wary of EDS. I have just had a look around their website, and although they mention IVA's they don't mention IP's at all. Also their T&Cs, published on the site relate only to DMP's. Could be just an oversight, or me being blind :-)

The T & C's i have relate to IVA's but it says "your insolvency practitioner will pay us a minimum of 50% of the nominees fees which will be detailed within the proposal he/she sends me as per clause 3c which reads: when we have received the initial payment from you in cleared funds we will prepare the documents and statement of affairs and issue this to a licensed insolvency practitioner within 10 working days......Does this sound ok?

Sounds as if they are acting as an introducer. At this stage you have no idea of who your IP (firm) will be. 50% of the nominees fees sounds excessive for an intro fee.

Even if you end up back with EDS, it's always advisable to ring around a few comanies, as you are entering into a five or six year relationship (and a financially intimate one at that), you need to feel confident with your choice.

I've emailed Mel Giles and they've referred me to Vincent Bond, checked them out and they are getting mixed reviews, mainly to do with fees!! I see on this website they rate pretty high tho, has anyone on here used them?

Jojo - are you going for an IVA or Debt Management?

Mel doesn't do the latter but VB do.

VB don't do IVA's though - they refer clients to Insolvency Practitioners.

I'm just surprised that Mel referred you to VB unless she didn't think you would be able to do an IVA.

Exactly what did her company say to you?

Rather than an email, see if you can have a word with Tina or Mel on the phone, to get why's and wherefores exlained.

All I did was go on her website and filled out the IVA thing then I received an email from Vincent Bond with an attachment about IVAs, bankruptcy and debt management, that is all! I know I can't ring anyone now as its Saturday so guess I will have to wait til Monday.

Right - it may well have been that from the information you put on there it directed you to VB.

Give them a ring on Monday morning and hopefully she can help you.

Please do - hopefully you can go down the IVA route. Mel may well pick up on this later and reply.
