Can anyone advise as to whether First Plus can stop us from selling our house? We have a secured loan of around £80k with them and selling would only free up a bit of that. We would move into rented. The IVA adviser I spoke with said we would be able to and added not believe people who say otherwise (namely F+) as they are just scaring us.

They can stop you selling, as they can refuse to release their charge thus preventing you from giving good title to the purchaser. But so long as you can demonstrate that the sale is at market value and is not likely to be bettered, there is no point in them preventing the sale. Presumably your solicitors are already liaising with them in this regard.

Hi Melanie,

We haven't put it up for sale yet. We are looking at all options open to us. If we are to go BR my wife would rather sell, go into rented then BR rather than have the house repossessed and sold by auction.

Melanie, how long does a call back take? i think I rang your office late Thursday and a lady took my details but I haven't heard anything back. I appreciate it hasn't been long at all but we are quite eager (nervous & anxious)has to what our real options are.

Thanks & regards

Hi Melanie,

I've just sent a message via the IVA enquiry form on your website.
