I have to have my house valued as part of my IVA. Can anyone give me any advice on how to get written valuations from estate agents? When I applied for my IVA I ended up paying £200 to get a full valuation, I can't do that now that I'm in my 5th year!
Hi, all I did was ring and say I was thinking of selling and told a white lie as to the reason why (relocation) they valued it and automatically put it in writing with their selling pack and forwarded this to my IP. Didn't cost a penny and was painless. I was dreading it but in the end it was fine. Did get a follow up call the other week though asking if I was still interested in selling...not at the moment was my reply x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.
Hi Tonka, try a few local estate agents and make sure you say that the valuation is to be done on forced 3 month sale basis - I used the story that I was going through a divorce. It's getting harder to do this as estate agents are getting wiser to a free house valuation and can pester you afterwards. Shouldn't have to pay but if you are finding it difficult chat with your I.P who may be able to help.

It annoys me that IPs expect you to fork out on house valuations when they know money is so tight. We had our proposal drafted with a Zoopla valuation, so why can`t this be the norm?
I do believe that, as the valuation is a condition of the IVA, that the fee should be paid by the IVA estate. Of course, getting the IP to agree is a different matter !
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
I am with the firm that gets many complaints on here. They allowed me to use a valuation I got using an online site for free. It was their idea that I got it that way as I could not afford the £120 for the valuation with a surveyor.
Thanks for the responses. I'll speak to the IP about an online quote but if not then will book some visits in for next week, hoping they'll give me a written valuation.
If there is a requirement for you to get a valuation as part of the IVA process, and you cannot get this done free of charge, then the cost should be paid as a cost of the arrangement.
It is ludicrous in the triple dip recession to insist on an archaic, and needlessly expensive way, to prove your house is worth less today than it was a few years ago.

That is true Hyperdrive but I guess they are looking to flush out people that own houses outright or who have built up equity over a long time? Fletch x
