Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could advise how bad it is after an IVA is finished in regards to Credit History.
It is my husbands main concern as he says in 5 plus years if he manages to move on with his comay he would liek to be abke to move house. (We currently live in a small 2 bed terraced house with 2 kids and a dog)

Many thanks
Just Breath

Hi, the IVA will stay on file for 6 years from the date it was accepted. After that it should just drop off.
You can rebuild your credit histors with mobile phone contracts and such like and Vanquis do a credit card that many use after an IVA.

It would be interesting to know if many post-IVAers have managed to secure mortgages from the high street and how long after their IVA finished were they able to do this.

I think I recall a poster recently managed to do so but I can't remember the detail.
7 year IVA completed in December 2016 - there is light at the end of that tunnel

I think that our own Mr Davie ought to be able to answer that one. Am pretty certain Andy now has a high street mortgage, car HP and one or two credit cards. Andy?
