How can one respect these organisations?

'Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays have been raided by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) regarding possible price-fixing.'

And who knows if any of the others have done the same?

Time was that I used to respect these organisations as they were small enough to care about their customers.

Now they have all got too big for their boots and care only about No.1 and making money. The little minnows (you and I) have somehow been left behind.

Shouldn't be allowed - they should be totally impartial.

Price fixing has been going on all year...see the mortgage market as an example. Non of them are passing on any of the BOE rate cuts to the consumers. There are no really competitive mortgages on the market at present, they have decided between themselves to concentrate on proffit margins rather than have a fair competitive market. If one of the big mortgage providers offered a great deal (say 1% off the rates at the moment) then all would need to follow to stay competitive. Its no different than the tranatlantic airlines caught fixing last year (Virgin and BA)
