how do I check banks affiliated to creditors ?

I am just considering an IVA. Have researched a fair bit but still do not know how to choose a reputable IVA company who will treat me fairly and have a good chance of success.

Also, because myself and my partner have debts with our bank, i realise we will need a new bank account with a bank that we do not owe money to.

However, i am unsure how to check this properly because i know that there can be affiliates/owners of a high street bank who i would not necessarily know about. Eg Santander Group owns Abbey, GE consumer group are connected to stores like Debenhams - i have a debenhams card. How can i get the right advice about which bank to open a new account with and how can i check their affiliates are not connected to any of my creditors? Thanks

Please go to www.iva.com and read all the reviews etc there. Be sure to speak to at least 2 or 3 providers before you make your mind up.

No need really, any professional will be able to tell you if there is any danger in your current banking facilities.

Now, I understand that speaking to someone may be scary, and making preliminary enquiries on one or two subjects is not a bad thing, but the sooner it is done the better.

As experts on the site, we are not allowed to market our own services therefore we also cannot recommend firms to you. It is probably better to speak to a couple of IP firms to see what advice you are given and to compare notes. The way you are treated in the early days ought to be indicative of how your IP firm will look after you in the future should you choose to enter into an IVA, as opposed to other options which might be available to you.

Melanie, have just read through all your reviews and would very much like to speak with you as i don't feel happy with current company who have just sent me paperwork last week for IVA.
