Hi st5 and welcome to the forum

Once you have been declared bankrupt, the Official Receiver will write to all of your creditors to confirm this. To this end there is no need for you to do anything, but also nothing to stop you sending them a letter regarding your intentions. In reality they will continue to harass you until they know something definate.

Would completely agree with that

Absolutely no harm in you sending a copy of the Bankrupcy Order to each of your creditors. That way you can be sure that the calls / letters will stop quickly.

Some Official Receivers are quite busy and it is not unusual for creditors not to know for 3 - 4 months.

Hi Melanie

Absolutely agree with you but sometimes they either don't write OR the creditors admin machine is simply just too big and unwieldy that it doesn't seem to make it to the database room!

I was speaking to Abbey earlier today advising them of a client who went Br in Dec and she was stunned that tey didn't already know and was really quite apologetic.

I can see a situation when someone might actually get an early discharge from bankruptcy and still be chased by creditors "pre bankruptcy".

What fun this industry is.
