How long after bankruptcy do you meet the OR

How long after being declared bankrupt does it take for you to meet the OR?.
I have arranged to take the Kid's camping over Whitsun but expect to be made bankrupt on the 14th May.

It will be our only holiday for a few years and they are really looking forward to it.
Will the OR understand that or not?
Help!!!

We filed on the 13th Feb and hubby had interview on 20th and mine was 21st Feb. It's usually with in a week.

I think it varies according to the workload of your OR's office. Mine was about 2 weeks, but we had the Easter holidays in that.

The OR would not budge on our interview -- even though I potentially had a job interview the same day!

She said that it was a legal requirement and should really be completed in 2 weeks of the order. In effect it was 3 weeks - but this was due to her schedule.

Is there no way of postponing the BR until after your holiday?

I have no option to postpone the bankruptcy order. I am concerned that we only have 12 days, 8 of them working days between the bankruptcy order and the break away. What do you think the chances of bringing the meeting with the OR forward? If we haven't heard from them should we go away anyway and chance it?

I think it will be better for you to postpone the br. That way it will enable you to still have your break without causing problems,

How do I postpone the BR, We have already had it adjourned at court and I do not think the Judge would adjourn it again. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Have you already filed for br? If the ball is already rolling I'm not sure how to delay it, Paul from Reviva would be better advising you.

We haven't filed, revenue and customs have taken it to court because we couldn't pay the whole bill.
The judge has adjourned it again as the accounts have not been completed up to date, but we can no longer afford the accountant.
Perhaps I should speak to Paul.

The OR will generally be understanding if you have a good reason - and a pre-booked holiday is sufficiently acceptable. The OR has to issue a first report within 28 days from the date of the bankrutpcy order, so they will want to ensure that sufficient time is allowed to do this.

Thanks Melanie. I am just very concerned that there is only 8 working day's between the bankruptcy and our holiday. I know it is only camping in Cornwall but my kid's are really looking forward to it and we are taking my Nephew as well. What happens if the OR hasn't called us by the time we go away. As we have recently had a business I think it unlikely that we will have a telephone interview.
I am sure we will have to go into the office and I would hate to drag the Kid's away from cornwall to come home for us to go to the OR.

What do you think will happen with the timescale?.

why dont you ring OR office and explain the situation it'l set your mind at rest either way and u want worry about missing the call , sue x

You mention the first report goes out within 28 days... Is this is a basic 'they're bankrupt, i'm dealing with it, here are my details' etc?

Is there a time limit on a second report and what is in this?

I only ask as over 2 months after our bankruptcy we are still getting 'threatening' letters from various creditors demanding money, and when I call up they make out as they have no idea about our bankruptcy.
