Hello good people of this forum. My question today is how long can an IVA record stay on the Individual Insolvency Register?

Our IVA was over and completed over a year ago but due to the PPI saga we've really fallen out with our IPA. After many emails back and forth we've decided to just quit this never ending game.

We did everything they asked us to do and even sent them a few cheques worth a few grands for the PPI but they kept asking us to fill more and more forms regarding our current/previous jobs etc... and we just got tired of it.

We did all that was expected of us as far as we're concerned.

To cut the story short, we want nothing to do with our IPA. We've decided to never contact them... Not that we care much about being on the IVA register but would like to know whether it will ever be removed from their records, that is all. Thanks.

Jamo - I assume to have not received your completion certificate ? - if not then you still have an active IVA. So it is likely to stay on your credit report and Insolvency register.

You need to contact your IVA company and discuss the delays and the best way forward

The IVA will remain on the register until your IP has formally concluded their administration of your case. I would encourage you to resume discussions with your IP, as in my experience continual requests for updates do seem to result in a quicker outcome - hasten to add in my experience on the forum and not within my own firm where we do try to close cases as quickly as possible.

Thanks for your prompt answers. So the records will stay indefinitely if I understand you correctly?

Well, I'm not contacting anyone anytime soon. I've done all that I was supposed to do. I'm done messing about.

I can understand your frustration - however there may be time in the near future when you need to replace the Gas boiler/car/furniture - and with an IVA still active you unlikely to be offered any credit terms as reasonable rates

I agree with ginger - I personally would take a big deep breath and sign the forms they want.

PPI refunds are seen as assets and although highly unlikely your IVA could fail because you refused to play ball.

Otherwise this is just going to cause you more stress and I am sure you just want to get on with your debt free life now?
