Hey everyone,

Well, my Barclaycard debt has now been passed to Mercers, from reading on the forum, I knew this would happen eventually.

Barclaycard were always pleasant on the phone but the guy from Mercers who has just phoned wasn't nice at all.

He acknowledged Melanie's letter and listened while I blabbed on about where I was up to regarding the sale of the restaurant etc.

Then, he told me that they WILL be sending doorstep collectors![:0]

I know that they do threaten this but June will be my forth payment missed and I'm not really close to sorting the IVA out.

Has anyone ever had them out?

Has anyone gone longer than 8 months without paying? (that's what I estimate mine to be)

I've got to find something to worry about, haven't I?![:I]

Hey Viki,

My B'card debts got passed initially to Mercers (subsequently to MaxDebt) and they did/said the same thing.

I got about as far as 6 months and they didn't do a thing. I just kept passing my letters to my IP, phoning them letting them know i was soon to be in an IVA and that even if they did send the boys round they wouldn't be entering my property and that they were welcome to apply to the court for a CCJ seeing as the IVA would wipe it out.

Amazing when you bluff them back with a bit of info they back off totally.

They just try to prey on /intimidate people they think do not know their rights, the system/process.

:o)x

Hi Vicki
Some do threaten to send doorstep collectors. Quite often I have read they more often than not dont arrive. I received a card saying they were coming and stayed in specifically to tell them I was not going to discuss anything on the doorstep. No one came. Dont worry hopefully you wont have too much longer to wait.

Ah thanks you two, I Knew these types of phone calls would start but I'm just worried about them actually turning up. I live with my Dad and he'd be mortified. Viki X

Even if they do turn up you can either choose to discuss without letting them in or just hide lol.

If they don't get entry they'll just go for a CCJ.. Whhooooo! Scary! NOT!! lol

I think i must be warped because as time went on i got to actually enjoy the nasty calls/threats of collectors and their ilk.

Just used to remain calm and laugh at them..

Mercers are always the same, and I have never known them send anyone.

I never even used to answer their calls. Just wrote and told them that I would send any collectors away with a flea in their ear and no money!

They cannot force you to make payments anyway, you don't have to speak to them and once you have told them to go, they become trespassrs and you can use reasonable force to eject them from your property if they refuse to go.

Animaleyes, I was the same as you. I used to laugh at their attempts to bully me. Unfortunately some people believe them

I have to admit.. i do like wasting other peoples time when they have wasted mine.

Once had a jehovhas witness knock on the door, their arguments were rubbish so they asked me if i wanted a bible reading te next week at my house. I gave them the name of my housemate who i knew would be in.

APparently they did come back too.. Hahaha!

Funny though

My husband LOVES Bible Thumpers! The last lot of Jehovah's Witnesses he had backing down the path trying to get away from him! He does love a good argument, particularly about religion.

We think word has got round as they seem to avoid our house when they come down the road!

Hi Viki

I was in a DMP making very small token payments, a couple of my creditors refused to accept the payments stating that the debt was too large compared to such a small offering. I was constantly threated with house calls, I even recieved a card for a date and time. Nobody came, I was very nervous all day but noone came. This went on for over 19 months, for about six months I made no payments at all as my circumstances kept on changing.

Youre doing you best and thats all you can do, these people steadfastly believe that you can get blood from stones if they apply enough pressure. Point it out to them that you cant.

Hang on in there, we are all here for you, I know its scary but you dont have to discuss your circumstances verbally if you dont want to. Just tell them that youre not prepared to discuss it, they have been made aware of your circumstances and as soon as something changes they will be the first to know. Tell them if they send someone out you will ask the caller to leave, if they dont leave you will call the police.

Good luck, try not to worry.

Ah Lily, thanks for that, you've made me feel tons better. [:)]

Wow, 19 months. I shouldn't worry!

I'm only thinking of my Dad really, I reckon I know enough (learnt from this forum) to deal with them if they did turn up. My Dad has put up with so much and been very supportive, just didn't want him to worry.

Lily, I can't find your blog!
