I am trying to rent a property although being in an IVA is proving a challenge.

I need a rough idea how much contents insurance would be for one adult living in a one bedroom flat. I have tried calculating on websites and they want personal information which I am not ready for. Just trying to gage and idea of what my costs will be and whether or not I can actually afford to move out of parents.

Thank you

Hi Ruth - I don't think it's going to be expensive & it can vary from what kind of cover you want & the type of property your in. I know they base it on bedrooms so yours is going to be cheaper than mine.
We are in a 3 bedroom semi detached. Mine is £18 per month, family of 5 (3 children) & we have £50,000 worth of cover with accidental damage cover, which we need! Boys have already knocked over one TV & broke the Wii. Our daughter will soon be a toddler, goodness knows what might get broken by this one! Have not got anything valuable covered ie: Jewellery or mobile phones, both things make it more expensive. And watch what they try to included, u don't need boiler cover as its upto the landlord to sort that x

Final IVA payment made in April 2013, never ever thought we could do it or get through it but we did! X

Hi Ruth, hope you've found your answer..we pay about £13 in a 3 bed semi..and like Lynsey get upto £50k worth of cover etc
I'm sure there are the usual compare websites that will be able to give you a rough idea x

It does all depend on location and the size of the property.

I agree location plays a part as it does in car insurance, my daughter's boyfriend pays a lot more in Manchester than he does where it used to be parked and that's on top of a grossly inflated premium in the first place

We pay just over £60 a month for buildings and contents on a four bed house. That has gone up as we've had a few claims over the past three or four years.
