ok so i cashed a cheque in one of those pawn shop places back in jan way before my iva was even started, it was due to go through my old hsbc account on 28th feb (28 days after i cashed it) and obviously my bank account was frozen, i go into the pawn shop yesterday all ready to pay them the money because i assume that the cheque will get returned because of my account being frozen, and the girl behind the desk says "no its not been retuned, go check it with your bank so i go into my old hsbc bank and they phone whatever office it is and the girl says no the cheques you cashed will be honoured even though your account is frozen..i said to them are you absolutely sure as i dont want to land into trouble with yourselves or the people who i have wrote the cheque to... they said no because the cheque card no was on the back we have to honour them.
What a stange thing now i am £200 better off than what i thought.... anyboby else have this happen to them?!??!

do you mean porn or pawn shop?

I doubt my wife would let me near a porn shop even with such a good excuse.

Good luck with the other 71

Shazzles,

Really this debt should have been included in your IVA anyway as a creditor as it was in place pre-IVA.

If they do try to cash the cheque and it is returned then you really need to make them aware of the VA as they to are bound by it aswell.

Hi
It certainly caught my attention !!
Banks can't return cheques guaranteed with a card as long as they have been accepted under the terms of the guarantee card. You will be fine

Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty hearts can do that.

Hi
There must be hundreds of thousands of people committing fraud each day then.
If you write a cheque knowing that your account is closed or frozen then yes that is fraud,in Shazzles case they wrote the cheque well before the account was frozen
