Why am I having such difficulty with HSBC Bank. I have been a customer for 8 years, previously had a mortgage with them, when I realised last year my debt was out of reasonable control, I went to them first, they advised me to take debt advice which I did. I started a DMP with the Debt Support Company and am now petitioning for an IVA through Tenon Debt Solutions. All my other creditos accepted the DMP without too much kicking and screaming except HSBC-have still been paying them their proportion through the DMP.

There seem to be so many departments with HSBC, not sure if they are all linked up, had a phone call today (polite, they are usually aggressive) telling me I was in arrears with my loan, explained I am on a DMP and proposing an IVA, said they would make a note of it

This was exactly the same conversation I had with them two weeks ago and was told then that all calls would be stopped. Also threatened doorstep debt collectors, solicitors etc.

I despair

Really hope my IVA application can be speeded up and hopefully approved as I think my return to creditors is good, around 50p in the £

Hi Julian,

Have you been given a reference number for your IVA application? Once I quoted my reference nunmber to the HSBC, they back off immediately.

I had no trouble with HSBC whatsoever. They didn't even add any late charges to my account whilst my IVA was been set up. I heard that HSBC were been a problem but they were great with me. I didn't get one phonecall or letter from them throughout the entire process.
The only trouble we had was with MBNA and Barclaycard who are both still ringing us now nearly a week after our creditors meeting. Can you believe MBNA are still chasing me for the debt they sold on.

Yeh amazing how we can all have different experiences, when setting up the DMP, MBNA were so easy to deal with! I suspect I may have problems with the IVA though as I believe they often reject.

Hi julian

HSBC were one of my best creditors to deal with, but it seems everyone has a different experiences with them.
I can't say a bad word about them in my case as they were so supportive.
Check that your Ip has written to them and informed them of your decision to seek an iva, you will probably find they have done so but as you say HSBC seem to have so many departments it never seems to filter down to the relevant people.

Good luck
