Hi All

Apologies not been on for sometime. Just wanted everyone to know we finally got our completion in Aug 2011. We went on a family holiday and came back to discover our house had been flooded by hot water pipe which had burst. We have since lived in a hotel for 6 weeks, now in a rental (building work has still not commenced).

Life has been stressful but at least our IVA is behind us. As we lost all our clothes I had to order emergency clothes (which I was ready to pay cash for) but got offered credit, very scarey. However I have used this as a way to build my credit score and paid the bill in full as soon as it arrived.

I have since been given a visa card (again just to build credit), again I will not use unless I have the money sat to pay it. So I use it and immediately pay it off. After a few months this should hopefully improve my credit score.

I have learned a valuable lesson through the challenging IVA years and that is if you don't have the money do not buy it.

I hope everyone on here completes their IVA successfully and thank you to everyone for any advice and support that was given to me. I know look forward to a debt free future and getting my life back on track (allbeit slightly delayed until our house is restored since the flood :-( )

Aww MrsPurple how lovely for you to have completed such a relief.

How awful for you to come back to find your house in such a state. Let's be positive about this and say your house will be all fresh and you will have brand new clothes to wear so when you do move back in it really will feel like a new beginning. A significant chapter in your life that you can look back on and remember the relief and happiness you felt getting to the stage you are now.

I hope your partner/children enjoyed the well deserved holiday in August and I hope you get to move into your shiny fixed home as soon as possible.

All the best for the future and don't be a stranger on the forum there are many people in the early stages of the IVA and indeed people like me nearing the end who draw strength from people like you who have been there and done it and succesfully conmpleted.

Well done you, hugs from Romford

Thanks to all. I am looking positive and treating the end of the iva and house flood as a brand new start. Positively it would have taken years for us to renovate our house. I not very relgious but things happen for a reason. It's been a horrible 5 years, so whats another few months if it will improve our lives. Bonus also that our discounted mortgage rate end in feb, so the payment actually drops an awlful lot due to it being fixed when rate were high. This means its interest only at moment but can start paying some off without actually increasing payment and no penalty. So life is really looking up. Sorry to go on just making me feel happier after the dark depression i had in iva.
Good luck to all. Will willingly give any advice.

Raising a glass to a positive new future for you. Good luck with the house renovations, it's really nice when something good comes from something so stressful. Hope you continue to have a wonderful debt free life.
